This application note contains additional detail on interfacing the ES540 swing door module with the motor circuit in Horton Automatics™ operators.
Step 1 (Horton Series 4000 operators)
On the C4156 operator harness assembly, note that the terminal block where the motor connects is offset from the centerline of the bracket it’s mounted on. This offset should be used as a reference to connect the orange and white wires as follows:
- The orange wire from the ES540 always goes to the C4156 terminal block screw directly in line with the pot assembly and knob.
- The white wire from the ES540 always goes to the remaining screw on the terminal block.
The two connections above are always wired as shown and are never reversed.
Step 1 (Horton Series 7000 operators)
On the C7156 operator harness assembly, the orange wire from the ES540 always goes to the left-hand screw on the terminal block.
- The white wire from the ES540 always goes to the remaining screw on the terminal block.
The two connections above are always wired as shown and are never reversed.
Step 2 (all Horton operators)
Connect the motor leads you removed from the terminal block to the red and violet wires from the ES540 as follows:
- In right hand and left hand reverse operators, connect ES540 red to motor red and ES540 violet to motor black. (Match colors.)
- In left hand and right hand reverse operators, connect ES540 red to motor black and ES540 violet to motor red. (Flip colors.)
